Shirahama Shrine
下田市白浜２７４０Shirahama Shrine has over 2400 years of history and is the oldest shrine in the Izu area. The quiet main shrine has a sacred atmosphere, and visiting is a humbling experience. Inside the front shrine there is a match-making deity Mime Benzaiten (Sarasvati). After you have worshiped at the shrine, only a few minutes’ walk away you can find yourself the beautiful and scenic Shirahama Beach.
