Nature/Scenic spots
Genbe River
A waterside spot that will make you think of Mishima, the “water city”.
Just a 5 minute walk from Mishima Station is a place where the dragonflies dance in the early summer and the beautiful water flows.
There are stepping stones and boardwalks installed over the river, so you can enjoy walking around the river area. There are also temples and shrines to see along the way, so it will be like a mini adventure!
The spring water from Mt. Fuji which flows down the Genbe River is between 15 and 16 degrees Celsius every year (59 and 60.8 degrees Fahrenheit). It is cool in summer, and warm in winter. We recommend bringing your sandals and a tower, and soaking your feet in the spring water.
The Genbe River is an agricultural waterway that stretches for a total of 1.5 km (about 0.62 miles) from the urban area of the city out to Nakazato Onsuichi (reservoir). The water source is the spring water from Mt. Fuji that bubbles up at Rakujuen in front of Mishima Station.
Local residents, the government, companies, and organizations all work to protect the beautiful riverside area of the Genbe River.
This stream in the middle of the town is an iconic Mishima spot.
