Enjoy panoramic views in a scenic paradise of breathtaking beaches and mountain trails

Izu Peninsula is a treasure trove of scenic spots, with observation decks and viewing points located at every corner. There are so many scenic spots that you won't be able to check all of them off your list with just one visit! The spots from which the sea, Mount Fuji, and the surrounding islands are all visible are especially popular among tourists.

[Izu Panorama Park] Enjoy the sun, the sky and Mount Fuji all at once

This scenic spot located in Izunokuni is accessible via ropeway. The scenic observation deck here called Ao Terrace, makes use of water features to create an idyllic space perfect for photos. Enjoy an unobstructed view of the surrounding nature in an open space at the top of the mountains.

[Mount Omuro Izu-Oshima Observation Deck] Journey in the air on the chair lift up to the top!

A popular spot among tourists, Mount Omuro has a large volcanic crater at the top spanning a diameter of 300m, a circumference of 1000m, and a depth of 70m which visitors can take a walk around. From the top, you can also enjoy magnificent 360-degree panoramic views including Mount Fuji, the Izu Islands, and even the Boso peninsula on clear days.

[Nishina Pass Observation Deck] Enjoy spectacular views from 900m above sea level while hiking along a scenic mountain trail

With an elevation of 900m above sea level, the sheer height of Nishina Pass is a mark of Izu being a volcanic island. It overlooks Cape Koganezaki, Ugusu Port, Suruga Bay, Mount Fuji, and you can even see the Southern Alps if the weather is clear. It is no wonder that this is touted as the most beautiful mountain pass in the whole of Izu. The Amagi Ranch, which is managed by the prefectural government, is located in a part of the pass where there are extensive fields of kumazasa, or Japanese bamboo grass, and you can see cows leisurely grazing pasture there.

Scenic views on the eastern coast of Izu (Atami to Kawazu)

Jogasaki Coast was formed by lava spewed out from Mount Omuro in a volcanic eruption about 4000 years ago. Its dynamic landscape and scenery has made it a popular choice as an outdoor filming location for TV. Walking across the suspension bridge hanging high above the ground is definitely a thrill!

Scenic views on the western coast of Izu (Matsuzaki to Numazu)

The western coast has many scenic spots that give visitors a beautiful view of Mount Fuji against the sea. The sun setting towards Suruga Bay is probably the most well-known, being touted as one of the best views of Japan, capturing the hearts of many photography lovers. One of the best spots to admire the beauty of this is at Cape Koganezaki, which is also listed as one of the top 100 unique rock formations in Japan. The name of this place, which translates literally to "Golden Cape", hails from the magnificent view of the setting sun casting a golden glow on the rocks here.

Scenic views on the southern coast of Izu (Shimoda to Minami-izu)

The southern part of Izu Peninsula offers unobstructed and gorgeous views of the horizon, where visitors can enjoy both the sunrise and the sunset. Shimoda is also famous for being where Commodore Matthew C. Perry landed with his fleet of Black Ships to demand the opening of Japanese ports to American ships. The thought of seeing the same sights as such a significant figure in the history books makes the experience even more memorable.
